Just landed in NYC.
Tonight at Output will be kinda nice.
Think about boo.
I don’t understand what this is trying to say or why it is even trying to say it.
More “jaw jacking” (as my dad would say), trying to flip the script and drop new mathematics while simultaneously masquerading under the guise of an article about a specific model series or line of equipment.
Now, I’m super down for giving voices to those who aren’t regularly heard. Marginalized groups including women, trans individuals, queer folks, people of color, the economically disadvantaged, etc. all deserve that shine and the visibility it offers. I just think this article’s attempt at a gathering of wide reaching points, conjecture, and what seems to be at least one quote taken out of context, under an umbrella, and presenting it as some hot take on how one style of DJing is equated with “white power” and another is truly the thing that sets us free is looking at the forest and not seeing the trees.
Check the comments as well. There’s some really great counterpoints offered which I think have just as much validity, if not more, than what this article attempts to posit as postulate.
I have sorted your Saturday night out for you.
