Tuesday 6/20 at Pacha I'm playing at all night set in the Prism room for Mosaic by Maceo. Maceo Plex, Jon Hopkins, Axel Boman and Alex Kennon are all in the main. Super excited to stretch things out and get a lil crazy! If you're in Ibiza, come thru!!
CHICAGO TONIGHT: Headed back to Smartbar Chicago to do some b2b damage with long time homie Marc Schneider! If you have never heard Marc before, then I strongly urge you to come out tonight, Chicago! One of the best I've ever heard. Real talk.
Also on the bill is the ever-so-lovely Sassmouth going b2b with Pat Bosman, another Downriver ex-pat like myself!
Been looking forward to this for quite a while, so hope to see you there!!!
GIGS: Here's my schedule for my shows around this weekend at Movement Electronic Music Festival (OFFICIAL)
PODCAST: A 6 hour set recorded live at Signal>Noise in Rochester, NY on December 10th, 2016.
For me, this night was incredibly special. I had been hearing good things about whats going on lately in the Rochester scene, so I had been looking forward to it for quite a while. When I arrived that night, I was extremely tired due to lack of sleep coupled with really obnoxious flight delays. And that was a shame, because I could already tell that the Joseph and the rest of the crew were definitely people I wanted to get to know better.
After a bit of rest and prep, the guys picked me up and brought me over to the venue. When we first walked into the bar, I remember thinking "Oh, this is cool! A nice, quaint bar... this should be quite fun!" But, we kept on going upstairs. The room was just perfect! A much larger room, kinda rough around the edges. I could tell right away that with enough people, this place was going to go off. It just had that vibe about it.
I start setting up, and I meet the sound guy. Pretty sure the first words out of his mouth were "Play as loud as you want... You're not going to break anything". I'm usually confused when people say this. :) So, I plugged in the USB stick in to do some sound checks. Holy Christ, did they have an incredibly powerful rig!! After a minute or so, the sound guy came up and said "you can go way louder than that..." and turned it up more! It just didn't quit. What a beast of a rig!
Anyway, it was approaching 10:00 PM, and doors were about to open. Normally, when we set these long all-night sets up, I kinda have a rule that the party needs to start at midnight or later because normally people don't show up until after midnight anyways and then I'm stuck playing to literally nobody for 2 hours. This was absolutely NOT the case for this party! I started off playing ambient type stuff but by 10:30 the room already had plenty of people to get things going.
The first "dance" record of the night was the B12 classic "Basic Emotion". People immediately started moving, and we had a party on our hands!
For the next 5.5 hours, I just kinda built and built and built and people followed along wherever I took them. For me, it was absolutely all that anyone could hope for when playing a long set like this. And I know I'll remember this party forever.... It was just one of those nights. If you were there, THANK YOU for being so freaking awesome!
And of course a MASSIVE thanks to the whole Joseph Bucci and the whole Signal>Noise crew. You guys really got a great thing going on, and I would love to come back absolutely ANY time!
To any of my DJ peers, I just want to say... if these guys come knockin, you absolutely want to say yes. You will not regret it.
