i didn't post anything in the run up to this happening because id been nervous about it for months, but now that it's over im so happy to have had the opportunity. i closed the main stage at dekmantel, and i think i did it in my own way
i don't think of myself a 'main stage' kind of dj, and ill certainly never be the kind of person that can sleepwalk their way through 3 of these kinds of sets in a single weekend, but to be given this responsibility by a festival that's been so supportive of me over the years means a lot. dekmantel have always encouraged me to test myself and have pushed out of my comfort zone time and again, and i'm grateful for that, but at the same time i can't imagine a stage as big as this feeling as intimate anywhere else :)
more than anything this made me feel lucky to be surrounded by such great friends - for their constant encouragement, kindness and positivity, and for their generosity with their wonderful music, which is what is at the centre of every weekend like this. i'll never forget being surrounded by so many of them dancing up on that huge stage - completely and utterly surreal
thanks to everyone who was there, i hope you had the best weekend!
